I recently had the opportunity to help in a delivery of a 58' boat down to Ocean Reef just outside of Key Largo. The ride was good and the weather when we got there was prefect. WE did get a chance to do some flats fishing and go outside to catch some sailfish. WE were one for one on sails.
Back on the local scene it sounds like things are starting up. There is a good report of Rock in the sound and around Manns' Harbor and the Big Rock are starting to show sporadically around the inlet. With the cold weather there should be more activity to come.........
Duck season opens up again soon and the action should be good in weeks to come. We are taking reservations so don't miss out..........

Thanksgiving Week fishing

Things around the Beach this past week have only been fair at best. The inshore action was slow with only a scattered bluefish here and there and a couple of stripers to talk about. The offshore action was a scattered tuna bite and a few wahoo mixed in. I have had reports of a couple of large bodies of stripers up the sound and across the sound so maybe with the cooler weather finally getting here things will take a turn for the better......... November activities

Over the last few weeks we have shifted our game plan a little and have had the opportunity to run a few hunting parties for ducks. The setup is out of Currituck and we hunt out of a scissor rig and a 21 ft. Parker. We had some good days with a mixed bag of Teal, Mallards, Pintails, Blackheads, Widgeon, and Woodies. This is an exciting way to hunt and anyone who loves to shoot waterfowl should try it. When the Big Rock show we will be offering Cast and Blast parties as well as Hunt only or Fish only trips. To book a trip give myself a call@ 252-312-7858 or Louis @252-202-1709. The late season should be a good one so don't miss out!!!!!! George

Sunday October 28 trip
The winds were a stiff 20-25 knots today so no ocean action was happening. Charlie Arnot and crew from all over the U.S. wanted SOME action so we headed down around the inlet and gave it a shot in the sound. The morning started out kinda slow with a few bites here and there but then the dinner bell rang and the Bluefish blitz was on. For the next hour and a half it was all we wanted of nice 1 to 2 pound blues.... and we were the only one there!!!!! Thanks again guys, glad it all worked out for you. See you next time.... George

Back Home and ready to go

We took a couple of weeks to decompress with our annual trip down to Southwest Florida. The weather was still hot as is with the rest of the eastern seaboard, and still very dry. The fishing was good despite no changes in the weather patterns, with catches of trout, snook, drum ,grouper, and ladyfish just to name a few. The beaches were Quiet and the food was great.....all in all, a great vacation.............. Things on the homefront have been pretty good to with good King Mackerel fishing, blues and spanish, Tilefish and seabass on all day trips, And don't forget the stripers. As the water continues to cool down, expect things to get better all around. We have some dates open so give me a call @252-312-7858 so we can get you on some great fall fishing........George

Awesome fishing Sept. 25

Today we had Aaron Kerstetter and crew for an extended trip. We set out just outside the inlet and it wasn't long before we were bowed up on the albacore. WE had steady action catching 25 or so with a nice King Mackerel and some spanish mixed in as well. The bonus of the day was a double header catch and release of two 35-40 pound Red Drum. We ended the day sighting a nice cobia but he would not eat.... all in all an awesome day of fishing... Thanks again guys, see you soon... George and Clarence

The last two weeks

Overall the fishing has been good the last couple of weeks in spite of the cold fronts that came through. It seemed that when we have had a trip it was too rough to get into the ocean, but we made the best of it catching blues, mackerel and an assortment of bottomfish. With fall now here and the water temps falling the fishing is turning on with the boats catching albacore, kings, spanish, blues and tilefish out on the bottom grounds. Things should continue to improve inside as well with the opening of sound rockfishing on October 1...... Three fish a day seven days a week. That is a great fishery and should just get better as we near Thanksgiving. WE have days open for all types of fishing so give us a call @ 252-312-7858 to get in on this great fall action.... see you soon.. Capt. George

Tuesday Sept. 4 PM

This afternoon we took The Beer family all the way from Nuenburg, Germany out for there first saltwater fishing Experience. We decided to stay in the sound and do some bottom fishing for a mixed bag. Lukas and Franziska looked like pros as they caught a variety of fish. The sea mullet were there, as were spot, bluefish, trout, pigfish and pinfish. Stephan and Edith could hardly keep up with their kids but managed to get a few fish as well. We ended the day with a great catch and later that night, a wonderful feast with shrimp and the fish we caught. It was great meeting you and spending time the last week. Take care and have a good winter...... George

Wednesday Drum trip

This afternoon I took off and headed south to the mouth of the Neuse River with a couple friends for some Big Drum fishing. We had a good spot with alot of bait around and it paid off with us catching a pair of 40 pounders and hooking a couple more. This can be some awesome fishing with some days producing double digit numbers. Every once in a while I get to fish too!!!!! .........George

August 28 all day trip

Today the crew of Ed Gaydas joined us for an all day trip. We headed off the beach in search of the Tilefish. It didn't take long before we were on the spot and catching some nice fish. The swell was building from the north wind , so after we had a good catch of Tiles and a few Dolphin we called it a day and headed for the dock....... thanks everyone, we really enjoyed it...... Saturday All day

We headed off the beach this morning with my good friend TEX Ferrell and family for an all day trip. The weather was perfect and the fishing was pretty good to. We stopped on a couple patches of grass first thing and got on some nice light tackle Dolphin. We then decided to look for the big one. There were boats around us that saw some fish but luck was not with us today. WE covered alot of ground but came up short. We will get them next time guys..... thanks again.... George
